BORKNAGAR: New Album Will Be 'Epic, Grandiose, Heavy, Groovy And Atmospheric'
January 6, 2009Norway's BORKNAGAR has issued the following update:
"The writing process of the new BORKNAGAR album is now completed. We can assure you that this will be a monumental album in every aspect. It will be epic, grandiose, heavy, groovy and atmospheric, crafted the way only BORKNAGAR is able to.
The new drummer David Kinkade [ARSIS, MALEVOLENT CREATION, DIVINE EMPIRE, COUNCIL OF THE FALLEN] arrives in Norway in a couple of weeks and the band is starting to work in studio the 19th of January. Again, the band will record the album at Toproom studio with Børge Finstad as engineer. Mixing location is yet not decided as the band has decided to keep alternatives open. In good tradition, the band will produce the album themselves.
"A new BORKNAGAR MySpace site is under construction by no other than the visual wizard Marcelo HVC. The site will be updated with the very latest news regarding the recording process and the upcoming album in general. A video diary and other promotional campaigns is also planned to be launched."
BORKNAGAR announced in March 2008 that Jens Ryland (guitar) and Erik Tiwaz (a.k.a. Tyr; bass) had returned as permanent members of the band.
Jens Ryland was a longtime member of BORKNAGAR and contributed to "The Archaic Course", "Quintessence" and "Empiricism" albums before he quit in 2003 due to other priorities in life.
Erik Tiwaz joined the band in 2000 and participated on "Empiricism" as a regular member. In 2004 he quit the band due to personal reasons but contributed as a session musician to "Origin" in 2006.
